Crescent Lake is roughly 13 miles long and 2 miles wide — a crescent-shaped tributary of the St. Johns River. Long known as the "Bass Fishing Capital of the World," it's also strong for crappie, bluegill, and shellcracker. The St. Johns naturally replenishes fish and bait daily.
- Largemouth bass: Feb–Jun peak, year-round open season
- Black crappie: Jan–Apr peak; spawning in pad fields Feb–Mar

- Closest public ramp: Central Avenue Boat Access, 4 Central Ave — about a half mile south of the cabin (Margary Neal Nelson Sunrise Park is a 2nd option off Cypress Ave)

Central Florida's spring belt sits within an hour of the cabin. Crystal-clear, constant 72°F, swimmable any month. Plus thousands of acres of pine and palmetto for hiking, paddling, and wildlife.
St. Augustine — America's Oldest City
Founded 1565. Cobblestone streets, the Castillo de San Marcos masonry fort, Flagler College's Spanish Renaissance architecture, ghost tours, and Anastasia State Park's beaches. An easy day trip — out by 9, back by sunset.
