“We rented this place for our son's wedding. It was very close to the lake house where he was getting married. Our out of town nieces loved the pool and the basketball court. My Brother in Law loved the dock. My father in law loved to sit on the front and back porch just to see the views. We will stay here again.”

Frequently Asked

Where exactly is Crescent City Lake located?

The cabin sits on Crescent Lake in Crescent City, Florida — a 15,960-acre, crescent-shaped lake in Putnam County, about 13 miles long and connected to the St. Johns River via Dunns Creek. It's a 1-hour drive from St. Augustine, 1 hour from Daytona Beach, and roughly 90 minutes from Orlando, Jacksonville, and Gainesville. The lake is one of Florida's most underrated freshwater destinations and is widely known as the bass fishing capital of Florida.

How far is the cabin from major Florida cities and airports?

Approximate drive times: St. Augustine 1 hour, Daytona Beach 1 hour, Gainesville 1.5 hours, Orlando 1.5 hours, Jacksonville 1.5 hours. The closest airports are Daytona Beach International (about 1 hour) and Jacksonville International (about 90 minutes). Orlando International is roughly 2 hours. The cabin is a practical lake-house rental for travelers flying into any of central or north Florida's main hubs.

What's there to do nearby?

Within an hour you'll find De Leon Springs State Park (72° spring plus the Old Spanish Sugar Mill pancake house, 35 min), Juniper Springs and the Ocala National Forest (35 min), Dunns Creek State Park (8 mi), Welaka State Forest (11 mi), and historic St. Augustine — the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the U.S. (1 hour). Closer to home: kayaking, bass fishing, and small-town Old Florida — Crescent City is a designated Florida Main Street community.

How many bedrooms and bathrooms does the cabin have?

Three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms — two full baths plus a half bath (powder room) on the first floor. Sleeping arrangement: king bed in the downstairs master, plus king, queen, full, and three twins upstairs — total comfortable capacity of 10 guests. It's purpose-built as a large-group vacation rental and family lake house, with separate sleeping zones that work for two families sharing or for multi-generational stays.

Is it good for kids and large groups?

Sleeps 10 across 3 bedrooms (king downstairs; king, queen, full and 3 twins upstairs). Pool, hot tub, tennis/pickleball court, kayaks, fishing off the dock, fire pit, board games and a game room. Guest reviews repeatedly mention it's "perfect for two families."

Is there a pool and hot tub? Is the pool heated?

Yes. The cabin has a private outdoor pool and a heated outdoor spa. The pool itself is unheated, but the heated spa spills directly into the pool — so in cooler months the spillover warms the shallow end and gives you a usable swim/soak combo year-round. Both are private to the cabin, fenced, and just steps from the dock.

Can I fish from the dock? What's in the lake?

Yes — there's a private pontoon dock, and Crescent Lake fishes year-round. The lake is known for trophy largemouth bass (Florida strain) — peak February through June — plus black crappie (peak January through April), bluegill, redear sunfish (shellcracker), striped and hybrid striped bass, chain pickerel, and catfish. A Florida freshwater fishing license is required and easy to buy online. Kayaks are on-property; no jet skis are allowed on the lake, which keeps the water calm.

Does the cabin have Wi-Fi fast enough to work from?

Yes — the cabin has broadband Wi-Fi suitable for video calls, streaming, and remote work for a full household. Many guests use the lakefront porch as a workspace before heading out on the kayaks or dock at lunch. If you're traveling with a team and need to confirm specific bandwidth before booking, just ask and we'll share the current speed test.

Is the cabin pet-friendly?

Yes — this is a true dog-friendly vacation rental, not a "we'll allow one small pet" listing. Well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior approval; please mention your pet at booking so we can confirm. The cabin has direct lake access from the yard, a large fenced area, no through-traffic on the road, and plenty of space to run. Bring a towel for muddy paws after dock time.

When is the best time of year to visit?

March through May and October through November are the sweet spots: mild temperatures, lower humidity, peak fishing, and full availability of every outdoor amenity. Summer (June through August) is hot but ideal for pool, lake, and spring-fed day trips. Winter is mild and quiet — great for fishing and a low-stress family escape, with the heated spa keeping the pool comfortable into the evenings. The fire pit is seasonal (fall and winter only).

What's the closest public boat ramp to the cabin?

Central Avenue Boat Access at 4 Central Avenue, Crescent City — about a half mile south of the cabin and the closest of the two public ramps on Crescent Lake. It's a two-lane concrete ramp with a dock and street parking. A second public ramp, Margary Neal Nelson Sunrise Park, sits a few blocks farther south off Cypress Avenue and offers gravel parking, a picnic table, and a gazebo if you prefer the park setting.

Can I bring my own boat?

Yes. The cabin has a private pontoon dock on Crescent Lake with a boat lift — tie up your own bass boat, fishing skiff, or pontoon steps from the back door, or hoist it out of the water between trips and during storms. For launching, the closest public ramp (Central Avenue Boat Access at 4 Central Avenue) is about a half mile south. From the dock you have direct access to roughly 15,960 acres of Crescent Lake plus the St. Johns River system via Dunns Creek. Note: jet skis are not permitted on the lake, which keeps the water calm for fishing, paddling, and family swimming.

Can I host a wedding, family reunion, or event at the cabin?

The cabin is licensed as a short-term vacation rental and is built around private group stays — family reunions, multi-family vacations, and milestone trips with up to 10 overnight guests are exactly the use case. Larger events (weddings, parties with non-staying guests, anything with vendors or amplified sound) require advance approval and are evaluated case-by-case. Reach out before booking with details and we'll let you know.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in from 4:00 PM. Check-out by 10:00 AM. Self check-in instructions are sent the day before arrival.

How does cancellation work?

100% refund if you cancel 60 or more days before arrival. 50% refund if you cancel 30 or more days before arrival. After that the booking is non-refundable. Payment is split 50% at booking and the remaining 50% one day before arrival.

What's the security deposit?

A 10% pre-authorization is placed on your card at booking. It's not charged — just held — and is released two days after departure assuming the cabin is left in good condition.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes — a 2-night minimum applies year-round for short-term rental bookings. Most guests stay 3 to 5 nights to make the drive worthwhile and to fit in the lake, springs, and a St. Augustine day trip; longer stays are common during peak fishing months and around major holidays.
